ABA Names Lindsay Torrico to Lead ABA Foundation

WASHINGTON —

Lindsay Torrico has been named senior vice president of bank community engagement and executive director of the American Bankers Association Foundation, which plays an industry-leading role in helping banks provide financial education, elevate issues around community development and affordable housing, and achieve corporate social responsibility objectives to improve the well-being of their customers and their communities. Torrico started in her new role this week.

"We are thrilled to have Lindsay lead the Foundation and build on its long and proud history of helping banks make a real difference in the communities they serve,” said ABA President and CEO Rob Nichols. "Her experience in community engagement, policy and philanthropy will help ensure that the banking industry continues to play a leading role in supporting the financial well-being of people in every corner of the country.”

"I am honored to join the ABA team, and to have the opportunity to help America’s banks more deeply engage, support and uplift their communities,” said Torrico. "In this moment of economic anxiety, the role that banks can play in strengthening communities and driving economic empowerment is more important now than ever. I look forward to working with banks of all sizes to build on the ABA Foundation's successful financial education and consumer awareness programs and find new, innovative and transformative ways for the Foundation to be a force for good.”

Torrico comes to ABA after 12 years at United Way Worldwide, where she most recently served as vice president of policy and advocacy. In that role, she worked to activate and mobilize United Way affiliates, corporate partners and caring citizens toward building stronger, healthier and more equitable communities. During that time, she expanded United Way Worldwide’s nonpartisan civic engagement and community empowerment efforts and spearheaded dozens of successful grassroots campaigns on education, workforce development, tax credits for working families, COVID recovery, and other challenges.

Prior to her time at United Way Worldwide, Torrico served in policy roles for Senator John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) and community outreach positions at City Year and the office of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. She serves on the Board of the Convergence Center for Policy Resolution, a nonprofit committed to solving policy challenges across the political divide. She also is the Board Chair of Nonprofit VOTE, which is dedicated to helping nonprofits engage in nonpartisan civic engagement.

Torrico holds a B.A. in Government from the University of Virginia, and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA).
