ABA Foundation Opens Instagram Voting for National Lights, Camera, Save! Teen Video Contest

Cast your vote on ABA's Instagram page beginning January 16

WASHINGTON —

The American Bankers Association Foundation today kicks off its Lights, Camera, Save! social media contest via ABA’s Instagram page to allow people to vote for their favorite video entry submitted by teens from across the country.

Lights, Camera, Save!, now in its 13th year, is a national contest that encourages teens ages 13-18 to communicate the value of sound money management in a 30-second or less video. This free competition is one of ABA Foundation’s most popular financial education initiatives. This year, there are 350 participating banks in 47 states and Washington, D.C. as a part of Lights, Camera, Save!

National contestants will go head-to-head on ABA’s Instagram page from Jan. 16-19, and people will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite videos. The results will determine which contestants advance to the final round of national judging, which makes them eligible for several awards including a grand prize of $5,000. Registered banks hosted the first round of judging in their local markets and selected one winning video to move on to the national contest round hosted on ABA social media.

“This year’s contestants have wowed us with both their creativity and technical skill,” said Lindsay Torrico, executive director, ABA Foundation. “We hope people across the country will take a moment to vote on these entertaining and educational videos and help us select a winner that exemplifies how young people can play a powerful role in supporting financial education.”

Since 1997, the ABA Foundation’s financial education initiatives have reached millions of young people through banker-led lessons. The Foundation’s other financial education programs include Get Smart About Credit, Teach Children to Save and Safe Banking for Seniors. All programs are provided at no cost and both ABA member-bank and non-members are eligible to participate.

Students interested in the Lights, Camera Save! competition can learn more about the contest at lightscamerasave.com. Banks interested in hosting future contests can visit aba.com/lightscamerasave.

This year’s contest is generously sponsored by Plinqit, the first platform that brings together automated savings, data-driven financial wellness content and virtual account management.
