2023 Community Committment Awards Submission

  • Entry Category: Protecting Older Americans
  • Asset Size: Medium

We provide fraud prevention education to a vulnerable population focused on recognizing, preventing, and recovering from fraud and identity theft. This program provides education both face-to-face within the community as well as through social media. We aim to empower seniors to understand the prevalence of fraud across all demographics to ensure they know they are not alone in being targeted and taken advantage of by fraudsters. This education helps them identify the red flags of fraud and identity theft to allow them to protect themselves and others, and walks them through the resources available to report and recover from fraud. We provide a lively and interactive experience complete with examples, stories, refreshments and time to address the participant's questions. The social media and digital outreach includes posts on Facebook, Twitter, and lnstagram as well as blog posts on the Bank's own website. The topics addressed range from identity theft prevention to romance scams and monitoring your credit.
