Director of Princeton Faith and Work Initiative to Keynote 2024 ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking

Registration closes May 3

WASHINGTON —

David W. Miller, Ph.D., director of the Princeton Faith and Work Initiative and also a senior professional specialist in ethics, will present a keynote session to future bank leaders at the 2024 ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking on June 6. The title of his presentation is “Professional Responsibility and Ethics in an Unethical World.” Registration for the 2024 Stonier executive education curriculum, which will be held June 6-13 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in Philadelphia, closes May 3.

“Dr. Miller is familiar with the complexities of banking and brings a unique and important perspective to Stonier,” said Perette Bonner, ABA vice president and Stonier program director. “This year’s class will benefit from his thoughts on how ethical leadership can foster a culture of trust and integrity, which are key ingredients to long-term success.”

Miller brings an unusual “bilingual” perspective to the classroom and the boardroom. Before receiving his Ph.D. in ethics and joining the faculty at Princeton University, he spent 16 years in senior executive positions in international business and finance, including eight years in London.

Miller is the Director of the Princeton Faith & Work Initiative, a senior professional specialist in ethics, and a lecturer. In addition to his in-demand classes, ground-breaking research, and public outreach, he also serves as an advisor to corporate CEOs and senior executives on ethics, values-based leadership, culture, and the role of faith at work. He has presented on “A Restoration of Trust?” in Davos and is a regular participant at the Yale CEO Summit.

Additional featured sessions at Stonier this year include:

  • “Enterprise Risk Management,” taught by Sim Segal, president and founder of SimErgy Consulting;
  • “Managing and Measuring Performance,” taught by Peter Cappelli, the George W. Taylor professor of management at The Wharton School and the director of Wharton’s Center for Human Resources;
  • “Wharton Corporate Innovation Simulation,” taught by Henry Han, senior fellow and adjunct associate professor in the management department at The Wharton School;
  • “Authentic Leadership,” taught by Michael Sacks, professor in the practice of organization & management, Goizueta Business School and faculty director, Woodruff Leadership Academy at Emory University;
  • “Financial Management - Advanced,” taught by Dr. Jacqueline Garner, professor at The Scheller College of Business at Georgia Institute of Technology; and
  • “Personal and Professional Leadership,” taught by Annie Wilson, senior lecturer at The Wharton School.

Last year, 623 Stonier students representing banks of all sizes and geographies, various regulatory agencies and international organizations attended seven days of classes in June. Stonier’s intensive education program complements extension projects throughout the year. The three-year program focuses on preparing future industry leaders with curriculum covering a variety of topics including capital planning, enterprise risk management, marketing strategy, and technology and innovation. The program culminates with a capstone strategic project, where students develop comprehensive business projects for their financial institutions. Over the past 89 years, Stonier has trained more than 25,000 of the nation’s top banking executives and government regulators, many of whom have reached the pinnacle of their organizations. Graduates of the program receive a Stonier diploma as well as a Wharton leadership certificate.

Registration for Year 1 and accelerated students in the 2024 session closes May 3. For more information on the program, visit www.abastonier.com. Applicants to the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking are encouraged to apply early for prompt consideration.
