New York and Pennsylvania Bankers Receive ABA Distinguished Service Awards for Risk, Compliance

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Ann Marie Tarantino, senior vice president, chief compliance officer and risk officer at Esquire Bank in New York, and Elizabeth Reister, chief compliance officer at Fulton Bank headquartered in Pennsylvania, received the 2026 American Bankers Association’s Distinguished Service Awards for Risk and Compliance, respectively, the association announced today.
 
“Ann Marie and Beth have devoted years to strengthening risk and compliance practices throughout the industry while generously lending their expertise to ABA committees and conferences,” said Ginny O’Neill, ABA’s executive vice president of regulatory compliance and policy. “Their leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the banking community make them highly deserving of this honor.”
 
The awards, which recognize leadership, initiative and accomplishment in banking regulatory risk and compliance management, as well as volunteer service through ABA, were presented at ABA’s Risk and Compliance Conference in Charlotte, N.C.
 
“Both of this year’s recipients are industry leaders who have navigated the evolving complexities of bank risk and compliance,” said Ryan Rasske, ABA’s senior vice president of risk and customer markets. “Equally important, Ann Marie and Beth invest in others, strengthening the profession for the next generation.”
 
ABA Distinguished Service Award for Risk
 
Tarantino has more than 35 years of banking expertise, spanning leadership roles across diverse operations from branch manager to senior executive positions in risk and compliance. 
 She currently oversees compliance, Bank Secrecy Act and internal audit functions while coordinating enterprise and model risk management at Esquire Bank.
 
Tarantino has expanded her industry credentials by earning certifications, including Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Risk Professional (CRP) and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Professional (AMLP).
 
She has been actively engaged with ABA advocacy and professional development for nearly two decades, serving as past co-chair of the ABA Enterprise Risk Management Working Group, former member of the ABA Compliance Administrative Committee, and current member of the ABA Risk and Compliance Conference Planning Board.
 
As a leader, Tarantino continues to mentor rising risk professionals, reinforcing her enduring commitment to education, advocacy and volunteer service at both the national and local levels.
 
ABA Distinguished Service Award for Compliance
 
Reister has nearly 20 years of banking compliance experience, establishing herself as a respected authority in compliance risk management.
 
Her career at Fulton Bank illustrates progressive advancement within legal and compliance, culminating in her current role as Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, where she spearheads the bank’s enterprise compliance strategy and regulatory engagement.
 
Throughout her career, Reister has been engaged with ABA, including serving on ABA’s Compliance Administrative Committee and as chair of the CAC in 2022-2023.
 
She currently serves on the ABA Risk & Compliance Conference Advisory Board and regularly speaks at the event, delivering practical insights on emerging regulatory challenges.
 
Through her inspiring leadership and dedicated service, Reister advances the compliance profession, sharing expertise, fostering collaboration and passionately supporting peers across the industry.
