Bell County Services Annex Retention

First National Bank Texas - Killeen, TX

2023 Community Committment Awards Submission

  • Entry Category: Community and Economic Development
  • Asset Size: Small

Since 1901, First National Bank Texas (FNBT), the oldest bank in Bell County, has been a pillar in Killeen, Texas, for over 122 years. With decades of growth, after our 1960 headquarters facility was constructed, the need to enlarge our corporate headquarters was imperative. In 2018, FNBT embarked on a journey to plan for and build a new corporate headquarters. FNBT was committed to ensuring that its current headquarters location in downtown Killeen would not become an abandoned blight to the City but would be re-purposed to aid the community in revitalization efforts for downtown.

FNBT worked with the City of Killeen and Bell County on an interlocal project to bring the new County Annex to the downtown site, supporting the ongoing revitalization efforts of downtown Killeen. The downtown annex project, FNBT’s most recent public-private partnership project, provided not only much-needed land for the County to relocate its outgrown Killeen annex building, it further supported Killeen's commitment to revitalize downtown while ensuring that Killeen residents retain access to vital county services within their community. FNBT's $4,037,000 donation made the entire project possible and once again reconfirmed our commitment to the City of Killeen and Bell County as we continue to be a valuable partner in the community, continuing our efforts to make all of Killeen all that it can be.
