Understanding Cyber Crime Policies and Pursuing Coverage

Wednesday, December 12, 2018 • 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. ET

1.25 CRCM, 1.25 CAFP, 1.25 CERP

The risk of losses from data breaches, phishing attacks, ransomware, NotPetya and other malware, and newly evolving threats continues to increase. A necessary piece to a risk management and response plan for a financial institution or financial services provider includes cyber and crime insurance policies.

Get an overview of the nature of the risks that have proven to be real and warrant protective steps. Standard coverages and exclusions that can be expected from a cyber policy and crime policy will also be discussed. Last, this program will cover how to present a claim for coverage, what resistance or tactics to expect from insurance companies and how to overcome these refusals to pay full coverage.

Discussion Highlights:

  • Gain an understanding of current "cyber" risks and the potential losses for financial institutions and financial service providers
  • Learn to identify and break down relevant portions of cyber policies, crime policies and traditional policies
  • Establish and examine the steps and leading industry practices for pursuing coverage if losses are suffered from a cyber risk, directly or indirectly

Speakers:

  • Daniel J. Healy, Partner, Anderson Kill, L.L.P.
  • John Loftus, Senior Vice President, Cyber Security and Privacy Risk, Willis Towers Watson
