Darrin Benhart, Climate Change Risk Officer, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency

As climate change risk officer, Mr. Benhart leads the agency’s climate risk efforts related to supervision, policy, and external engagement. He assumed these duties in August 2021 and reports to the senior deputy comptroller for Supervision Risk and Analysis.

Mr. Benhart previously served in Large Bank Supervision as a key member of the team supervising Bank of America. He has also served as the deputy comptroller for Supervision Risk Management and chaired the OCC’s National Risk Committee, which is charged with identifying primary and emerging areas of risk to the federal banking system and ensuring that the risks are communicated throughout the agency and to the industry. He’s also served as Deputy Comptroller for Credit and Market Risk, where he was a principal advisor on risks facing the banking system and set policies for the Commercial and Retail Credit Policy units.

 

Ethan S. Harris, Managing Director and Head of Global Economics Research, Bank of America

Mr. Harris coordinates the global economics forecast and publication and manages the developed markets economics team. Harris regularly ranks highly in investor polls and forecast surveys. 

Before coming to BofA Securities, Harris was the chief U.S. economist at Lehman Brothers. He also worked as an economist at Barclays and JP Morgan and spent nine years at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he was an assistant to the president and head of the Domestic Research Division. 

 

Michael J. Hsu, Acting Comptroller of the Currency, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency

As acting comptroller, Hsu also serves as a Director of the FDIC and a member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council and Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council. Prior to joining the OCC, he served in the Division of Supervision and Regulation at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and co-chaired the Fed’s Systemic Risk Integration Forum. Hsu has held roles at the International Monetary Fund and SEC, and he helped establish the Troubled Assets Relief Program while at Treasury.

 

Gary M. Shiffman, PhD, Chief Executive Officer, Giant Oak, Inc.

Dr. Shiffman is an applied micro-economist and business executive working to combat organized violence, corruption, and coercion. His academic work is complimented by his global operational experiences, including his service as a U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Officer in the Pacific Fleet with tours in the Gulf War; as an official in the Pentagon and a Senior Executive in the US Department of Homeland Security; as a National Security Advisor in the US Senate; and as a business leader at a publicly-traded corporation.

Currently, Dr. Shiffman serves as the founder and CEO of Giant Oak, Inc., and the co-founder and CEO of Consilient, both of which are machine learning and artificial intelligence companies building solutions to support professionals in the fields of national security and financial crime.
