About the Community Bankers Council

​Who We Are

Since 1981, the ABA has recognized the Community Bankers Council (CBC) as the focal point for providing world class solutions, leadership and advocacy for the nation's community banks. The CBC consists of community bank presidents and CEOs from across the nation.

What We Do

Council members convene twice annually (Fall/Spring) to comment and strategize on government relations issues, banking trends and competitive priorities. Gatherings are used to pinpoint critical community bank challenges and initiate proactive strategies to respond to identified needs. Read highlights from the 2017 Fall meeting in Washington, DC

Council members are frequently called upon to promote the positive aspects of community banking by offering testimony on Capitol Hill, appearing in media interviews and serving as sources for the industry's responses to government regulations and rules.

Council members, acting as the "eyes and ears" for community bankers, serve as communication links between state bankers and ABA staff.

Council members knowledgably represent community bankers on internal ABA committees such as the Government Relations Council.

Council members actively participate at the state and local level to ensure Council messages reach the widest possible audiences.

Council members recognize and promote the value of ABA membership.
