ABA Partners with Wharton School to Launch Leadership Program for Bank CEOs

WASHINGTON — The American Bankers Association has partnered with the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School to launch the ABA-Wharton CEO Leadership Lab, a new immersive leadership experience designed exclusively for bank CEOs and presidents. Registration is now open for the two-day program, which takes place May 18-19, 2017, at the Wharton School’s Aresty Institute of Executive Education in Philadelphia.
“Leadership is a journey, and that’s especially true in an industry as dynamic as banking where leaders are continually tested by a rapidly changing operating environment and the risks and opportunities presented,” said Jim Edrington, executive vice president of ABA's professional development group. “The Leadership Lab is a bona fide brain trust – a place where Ivy League thought leaders converge with elite industry execs on how to navigate changing regulations, disruptive innovation, shifting demographics, customer engagement and other emerging issues.”
The CEO Leadership Lab is designed and taught by esteemed faculty from the Wharton School including Mario Moussa, Sigal Barsade, Peter Cappelli, Kathy Pearson and Michael Useem. Featured topics include banking’s cultural evolution, strategic agility and engaging with the board, as well as challenges on the horizon. The program is limited in size to foster an intimate, top-tier learning environment in which attendees explore real-world challenges and solutions through experiential learning and peer discussions.
“This is a unique opportunity for bank leaders to discover a new world view and strategize for the future with their respected peers,” said Edrington.
Participants who complete the program will earn an ABA-Wharton CEO Executive Leadership Certificate from ABA and the Wharton School to go along with actionable insights and an expanded network of industry peers. The registration deadline is April 21, 2017. To register or to learn more about this program, visit
