Banks Accepting Entries for ABA Foundation’s Lights, Camera, Save! Video Contest

Local banks sponsor teen competition

WASHINGTON — Banks nationwide are now accepting entries as a part of the American Bankers Association Foundation’s annual Lights, Camera, Save! video contest. Lights, Camera, Save! is a national contest that encourages teens to use video to communicate the value of sound money management.

Through Lights, Camera, Save!, teen participants will create a 90-second video that demonstrates the importance of using money wisely and submit the video to their local contest at a participating bank. Banks will be accepting entries through Dec. 1. [View the list of participating banks]. 

Registered banks will host the first round of judging and select a winning student to compete on the national level for several awards, including a grand prize of $5,000, plus a scholarship for a teacher at their school to attend the 2017 Jump$tart National Educator Conference.  Last year, banks hosted 114 contests in 44 states.  [View the 2015-2016 winning videos

“By leveraging their creativity and film production skills, students participating in Lights, Camera, Save! have a chance not only at national recognition and a $5,000 grand prize, but also to share valuable savings lessons with their peers,” said Rob Nichols, ABA president and CEO. “It’s a great way to build a generation of smart money managers.”

For the second year in a row, Lights, Camera, Save! is sponsored by Discover® Debit, a debit card program offered to banks by Discover Financial Services.  Discover’s support funds the prizes for winning students and scholarships for teachers to attend the financial education-focused Jump$tart Conference.
