Patti Blenden Receives ABA Distinguished Service Award

WASHINGTON — Patti Joyner Blenden, president and owner of Financial Solutions, received the 2018 American Bankers Association’s Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes leadership, initiative and accomplishment in banking regulatory compliance management and was presented during ABA’s annual Regulatory Compliance Conference in Nashville this week.
The ABA Compliance Administrative Committee, composed of 13 leading bank executives in the compliance profession, solicits nominations and selects the honoree.
“From both knowing and working with Patti for many years, I can say that few give more back to the compliance industry than she does,” said Carl Pry, managing director of Treliant LLC and 2015 Distinguished Service Award winner. “Her passion for our industry is second to none and it shows in everything she does. There is no more deserving person for this honor than Patti.”
“What a pleasure and privilege to join a group that includes many colleagues I hold in the highest regard,” said Blenden. “To be honored by people you love working with, for doing something you believe deeply in, is life’s greatest professional reward.”
Blenden began her career in banking at the early age of 15, working as a teller at a community bank in North Louisiana. Her commitment to the industry continued and in 1990 she founded Financial Solutions, an organization that helps community banks effectively administer their regulatory compliance management programs. Blenden has been a frequent presenter for ABA, where she has served as faculty for Stonier Graduate School of Banking and is an instructor and advisor to the Board for the National, Intermediate, and Graduate Compliance Schools. She helped develop ABA’s in-bank compliance schools and has written and presented a number of ABA briefings and webinars over the years. Blenden also regularly works with state and regional bank associations, has been invited to speak at federal regulatory and law enforcement agencies, and is the executive editor of Compliance Action newsletter.
Blenden received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Louisiana Tech University and earned her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate in addition to being a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM).
The American Bankers Association is the voice of the nation’s $17 trillion banking industry, which is composed of small, regional and large banks that together employ more than 2 million people, safeguard $13 trillion in deposits and extend nearly $10 trillion in loans.
