Mary Clouthier Receives ABA Distinguished Service Award

 

​WASHINGTON — Mary Clouthier, senior vice president and director of enterprise compliance programs for KeyBank, received the 2017 American Banker Association’s Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes leadership, initiative and accomplishment in banking regulatory compliance management and was presented at ABA’s annual Regulatory Compliance Conference in Orlando.
 
RCC_138.jpgThe ABA Compliance Administrative Committee, composed of 13 leading bank executives in the compliance profession, solicits nominations and selects the honoree.
 
“Mary is recognized throughout the industry as a leader in compliance risk management,” said Elizabeth Clarkson (CRCM), chairman of ABA’s Compliance Administrative Committee. “Her diverse range of experience as both an examiner and a banker, coupled with her endless drive to do right by colleagues and consumers have made her an invaluable asset to the compliance community.” Clarkson is also executive vice president, chief compliance and deputy enterprise risk officer at Umpqua Bank.
 
“I’m incredibly humbled by this recognition, ” said Clouthier. “I’ve had a very rewarding career and it has  been a privilege sharing my experience with other compliance professionals and helping advance their growth and success within the industry.”
 
Clouthier began her compliance career as a bank examiner with the FDIC. She later moved into a senior bank examiner role with both the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. In 1998, she joined the banking industry as chief compliance officer with Guaranty Bank. Since then, she has managed compliance and audit programs for Fifth Third Bank, Wells Fargo and US Bank. Clouthier has authored several articles for ABA Bank Compliance, taught at the ABA Compliance School and routinely spoken at ABA’s Regulatory Compliance Conference and other national events. She has chaired the ABA Regulatory Compliance Conference Committee and previously served several years on the ABA’s Compliance Administrative Committee and National Compliance Schools Advisory Board.  
 
Clouthier received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque and graduated with honors from the University of Colorado, Boulder’s Graduate School of Banking.
