Women’s, Emerging Leaders Forums to Showcase Next Generation of Bank Leaders

Forums to be held during ABA’s Government Relations Summit

WASHINGTON — The American Bankers Association will host its Emerging Leaders Forum and Women’s Leadership Forum, March 20 and 22 respectively, in conjunction with its annual Government Relations Summit. The forums, held at the Washington Marriott Marquis, will focus on broadening the industry’s talent, leadership and perspective through professional development, networking and bank advocacy.
“It’s tremendously valuable for bankers to hear from a diverse range of perspectives and leadership,” said Rob Nichols, ABA president and CEO. “These forums encourage the professional development of our industry’s most exceptional talent and provide a platform for a new host of thought leaders.”
During the Emerging Leaders Forum, next-generation bank leaders will exchange business strategies and career best practices while discussing the challenges currently facing the banking workforce. Keynote speaker Inquirous “Inky” Johnson, a former University of Tennessee football player and author, will share life experiences and basic principles to help individuals overcome obstacles and challenges.
Attendees will also hear from Debra Jasper, founder and CEO of Digital Mindset, in a roundtable discussion on how bankers can leverage social media platforms to increase their professional development and networking capacity. In addition, members of the House of Representatives will lead a congressional panel on bank advocacy.
ABA Chairman Dorothy Savarese will lead the Women’s Leadership Forum, which will feature a lunch session with Cindy Solomon, leadership expert, author and president and CEO of Cindy Solomon & Associates, a management consulting firm specializing in customer-focused leadership. During the session, Solomon will discuss the unwritten rules of corporate success and offer best practices to help women in the industry achieve their highest potential. Solomon will also moderate a panel discussion with two women banking leaders who will share the tips and practices that have helped them grow their careers and build their organizations.
