FinCEN Issues Notice on Trade in Antiquities and Art

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network issued a notice on anti-money laundering efforts related to trade in antiquities and art and included information about filing reports of suspicious activities. FinCEN said that crimes relating to antiquities and art may include looting or theft, the illicit excavation of archaeological items, smuggling and the sale of stolen or counterfeit objects.

The notice includes information about what banks should include in suspicious activity reports about suspected illicit trade in antiquities and art.
