Comments About the Proposal

With a five-day comment period, NCUA propose the initiation of an information collection activity designed to gather information on the "types of services federal credit unions provide and the economic status and financial needs of the members receiving these services."

The ABA supported the concept of this type of data collection as being a measure for Federal credit union service to their members in helping with their mandate to serve people of modest means. In its comment letter, the ABA urged NCUA to over-sample large credit unions and include the 100 largest Federal credit unions in its sample and conduct such a survey on a yearly basis. In addition, the ABA urged NCUA to require Federal credit unions to disclose annually the compensation and benefits of their top three senior managers.
