Older Americans

The ABA & ABA Foundation is committed to protecting seniors from financial harm, and offer several resources to support older Americans. Our Safe Banking for Seniors Program is free to all banks, and we also offer other free tools and resources for both banks and consumers. 

Banker Training

Older individuals are often targeted for financial exploitation. It is important that bank personnel can identify and detect potential financial abuse by strangers, or someone known to the older person. ABA provides training for bankers on topics including Financial Exploitation, Supporting Victims of Financial Crimes, and Suspicious Activity Reports.

Consumer Education

Consumer education is important to help people people of all ages manage their money, protect against fraud and understand their options for financial relief. In addition to consumer resources on protecting against financial exploitation and financial caregiving, ABA offers several community programs to help banks educate their communities, including Safe Banking for Seniors.
