ABA Statement on Bipartisan COVID-19 Relief Agreement

“The bipartisan agreement reached by congressional leaders will provide much-needed relief to families, workers, and businesses still struggling from COVID-19. Importantly, this agreement contains several ABA-supported provisions — including reauthorization of a more efficient and targeted Paycheck Protection Program, temporary accounting adjustments, and a new round of Economic Impact Payments — that will allow banks to provide additional help to individual and business customers under financial stress from the pandemic.

“We applaud lawmakers of both parties for coming together at this challenging time, and we urge swift passage of this legislation. America’s banks stand ready to play their important role in delivering this relief to those most in need, while continuing to provide other critical support to the recovery.”
