National Judges Set To Select 2017-2018 Lights, Camera, Save! Winners

Teen Video Contest Accepting Entries through Dec. 1

WASHINGTON — The American Bankers Association Foundation has announced its Lights, Camera, Save! national judging panel, along with the list of 157 participating banks, who will hold 173 contests in 45 states through Dec. 1. Contest winners will be announced during America Saves Week 2018.

The Lights, Camera, Save! video contest is a unique, bank-driven competition that encourages teens to create up to a 90-second video demonstrating the importance of using money wisely and submit it to their local, participating bank.

“The banking industry’s record-setting participation in Lights, Camera, Save! demonstrates its commitment to the financial education of future generations,” said Corey Carlisle, executive director of the ABA Foundation. “Each year, the student entries get more impressive, and we’re fortunate to have such an esteemed panel of judges to help pick our winners.”

Banks across the country host the local level of the competition, and select a winner to represent their bank and compete on the national level for $5,000, $2,500 or $1,000 toward their savings goal. In addition, one educator from each of the winning schools will win a scholarship to the 2018 Jump$tart Educator Conference. Videos will be judged on their quality, message, content and the criteria set forth by the contest's official rules

The Lights, Camera, Save! national judging panel consists of communication and personal finance experts, including:
  • Ted Beck, president and CEO, National Endowment for Financial Education;
  • Aaron Gilchrist, morning news anchor, NBC4;
  • Ashley Jacobs, director of marketing, Wise Bread;
  • Laura Levine, president and CEO, Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy; and
  • Gail MarksJarvis, personal finance columnist and author.
Bankers interested in participating in the contest can sign up online at aba.com/lightscamerasave. Registered banks will be featured on the list of participating banks on the ABA Foundation website and in press materials. Since 1997, the ABA Foundation’s financial education initiatives have reached over 9.1 million young people with the help of more than 225,000 banker volunteers.
