BAFT Names New Chair of Transaction Banking Global Leaders Group

BAFT, an international financial services association, has announced Diane S. Reyes, group general manager and global head of global liquidity and cash management at HSBC, as the new chair of its Transaction Banking Global Leaders (TBGL) group. Reyes succeeds Naveed Sultan, global head of treasury and trade solutions at Citi, who led the group for the past two years.
The TBGL brings together the leaders of the industry’s largest transaction banks to discuss solutions to common points of interest where cross-industry collaboration is required.  Topics typically include regulatory compliance, financial crime mitigation, cybersecurity, emerging technology and increasing the profile of the transaction banking industry.
“I am delighted to be appointed chair of the Transaction Banking ‎Global Leaders Group at a time of critical change for the industry,” said Reyes. “As digital technology transforms corporate treasury, it is vital that the financial community helps clients navigate the new world safely and securely, while enabling them to take full advantage of new digital opportunities.”
Reyes has been HSBC’s global head of global liquidity and cash management since 2011, leading a multi-billion dollar business operating across five regions and over 50 countries and territories. She has more than 20 years of financial services experience across a number of financial institutions with an emphasis on P&L, sales, client service, and product and risk management in transaction banking.
“The TBGL has been an important leadership body for the industry, providing guidance and expertise on the most important common priorities of the transaction banking industry,” said Tod Burwell, BAFT president and CEO. “This upcoming year represents the 10th year of the TBGL meeting under BAFT, and we look forward to the future under Diane’s leadership.”
The group includes institutions from Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, bringing geographic diversity and balance to the industry dialogue.  Participants collectively represent a significant share of the transaction banking services offered by financial institutions.
