ABA Launches New Video Series Highlighting Career Opportunities in Banking

The American Bankers Association today launched a new series of videos highlighting the diverse and rewarding career opportunities available in banking today. The videos, which profile eight employees working in different jobs at banks of all sizes across the country, are available on ABA’s new Careers in Banking webpage, which also features job boards, training and other resources for those considering a banking career. The bankers profiled hold a range of jobs at Chelsea Groton Bank (Groton, Conn.), Citi (New York), Citizens Bank of Edmond (Edmond, Okla.), Eastern Bank (Boston), Fifth Third Bancorp (Cincinnati), First Horizon National Corporation (Memphis, Tenn.), First National Bank of Omaha (Omaha, Neb.) and Windsor Federal Savings (Windsor, Conn.).

“The impressive bank employees we profile in this series really demonstrate what it means to be a banker these days,” said Rob Nichols, ABA president and CEO. “Whether they work in farm lending, wealth management or artificial intelligence, they all share the same passion for serving their customers and communities. We hope they inspire others to recognize the incredible promise and possibilities of a banking career.”

ABA’s Emerging Leaders Council, which consists of 51 members from banks of all sizes in every state, conceived of the video project as a way to complement and reinforce the board’s mission, which includes attracting, connecting and developing the current and next generation of bankers to lead the $18 trillion banking industry, which employs more than 2 million people.

“As the banking industry continues to change, so have the opportunities for people interested in a fulfilling and meaningful career,” said Bob Glover, incoming chairman of ABA’s Emerging Leaders Council and vice president, investment officer at The Peoples Bank of Ripley in Ripley, Miss. “In addition to the more traditional positions people think of in retail banking, lending and compliance, banks of all sizes need talented staff to handle everything from digital banking and cybersecurity to human resources and communications. Whatever your background, there’s a place for you in banking.”

Beginning today, ABA will share the videos across all of its digital platforms including the new ABA.com and encourage its members across the country to do the same. State bankers associations are also being encouraged to use the video series in their industry recruiting efforts, including at job fairs and on college campuses.
