WSFS’ commitment to its Communities was evidenced from the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, as it sprung into action to provide support through a variety of avenues.

In March 2020, WSFS pledged ,000 from the WSFS Community Foundation to help local charities’ COVID-19 relief efforts, assisting 21 nonprofits during a time of increased need, as demand for services increased while key fundraising events used to finance these services were forced to be postponed or cancelled. WSFS Bank also made a million contribution to the WSFS Community Foundation to fund future grants and donations, and also accelerated more than ,000 in annual commitments to local nonprofits. Throughout 2020, WSFS, the WSFS Community Foundation and the WSFS Foundation also maintained all grant and contribution commitments to ensure its nonprofit partners had the resources needed.

In June 2020, WSFS made a ,000 donation to four CDFIs for relief grants to help local small businesses impacted by the pandemic. To further assist small businesses, WSFS helped more than 5,000 Customers obtain nearly billion in first round PPP funding to protect an estimated 100,000 jobs, and supported nearly million of second round PPP loans to over 1,800 WSFS and non-WSFS Customers during the first quarter of 2021.

In Sept. 2020, WSFS announced a ,500 pledge from the Bank and the WSFS Community Foundation to provide laptops and tablets for students from low-to-moderate income families.

Through its corporate volunteer program, Team WSFS, the Bank also found creative, safe and socially distanced ways for Associates to volunteer throughout the pandemic, logging 11,897 volunteer hours in 2020, including online financial literacy courses, Community service and serving on the boards of nonprofits.
