Webster Bank Virtual Mentoring

Webster Bank - Waterbury, Connecticut

2020 Community Commitment Awards Submission

  • Entry Category: Volunteerism
  • Asset Size: Medium

Founded in 1935, Webster Bank has a strong legacy of philanthropic support and community service across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island and Wisconsin. Community service is a core value for Webster bankers, as evidenced by the roughly 130,000 volunteer hours our employees give each year. In addition to longstanding partnerships with Junior Achievement and United Way, Webster is proud to support our nationally recognized mentoring program, a project that proved crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced schools across the state to shut their doors. Webster’s mentoring program began as a pilot in 2002 with nine bankers. Today, it includes more than 100 mentors and adheres to MENTOR (National Mentoring Partnership) quality standards. A team of cross-functional Webster bankers lead the school-based program, providing leadership around recruitment, orientation and training.
