Supporting WI Underserved amid COVI

North Shore Bank - Brookfield, Wisconsin

2021 Community Commitment Awards Submission

  • Entry Category: Economic Inclusion
  • Asset Size: Small

In 2004, North Shore Bank opened metro Milwaukee's first bank branch located in an ethnic supermarket. Bank leaders quickly realized a lack of exposure and knowledge about the U.S. banking system among those shoppers – most originally from Mexico and South or Central America. Helping families thrive, businesses grow and communities flourish is the bank's primary mission and customizing its services to meet the unique needs of the Latino population in this area and other under-served communities across the bank's footprint became a primary focus for North Shore Bank.

Since then, North Shore Bank has continued its commitment to serving these otherwise under-served populations with financial resources, monetary support and education. During the pandemic, those under-served communities needed the resources North Shore Bank was providing to survive, which is why the community bank doubled down on their efforts during this time.
