Regions Affordable and Sustainable Housing

Regions Bank - Greenville, Mississippi

2020 Community Commitment Awards Submission

  • Entry Category: Affordable Housing
  • Asset Size: Medium

Increasing the supply of affordable housing available to low- and moderate-income residents remains a strategic economic and community development priority for Regions bank. We value our work with community partners in addressing the housing needs of our communities. Mississippi has an affordable housing crisis, and Greenville is at the epicenter, with the highest concentration of substandard housing in the state. Regions has partnered with the Greater Greenville Housing & Revitalization Association (GGHRA) for six years on developments in the area. Regions provided partial financing for The Reserves at Gray Park, a million, 42-unit affordable housing facility in Greenville - the largest in this community in more than 30 years. Construction for the development's multiple buildings reflects an understanding of the way homes were built in the area one hundred years ago, with local knowledge driving sustainability, maintenance and safety features to accommodate the intensely hot and humid Mississippi Delta climate. In addition to modern, safe, and family-friendly apartments, the features built into this development result in up to in utility savings annually, floorplans to encourage families to be together, and outdoor space to encourage community interaction. https://doingmoretoday.com/eco-friendly-development-serves-as-model-for-affordable-housing-nationwide/
