Old National Bank (Honorable Mention) - Evansville, Indiana

2021 Community Commitment Awards Submission

  • Entry Category: Financial Education
  • Asset Size: Medium

In 2019 and 2020, Old National Bank expanded on our successful approach to providing Financial Education through the development and implementation of a new digital eLearning platform that incorporates elements of our branded Real-Life Finance program (which was created in-house by Financial Empowerment Director Ben Joergens). Named the Old National Bank Real Life Finance eLearning Program, this in-depth platform covers 11 comprehensive personal finance topics and 46 individual lessons.

ONB rolled out the eLearning platform in late 2019 to all employees. The idea was to create a stronger, more knowledgeable employee base that is not only more financially confident and able to have deeper, more consultative conversations with clients, but also in a more secure, healthy place with their own finances. In 2020 and 2021, we also began rolling the digital platform out to select clients, including 15 YMCA agencies and Marion College in our home state of Indiana.

The eLearning program provides the resources to guide individuals toward financial wellness. Whether someone is looking to get out of debt, buy a home, move out on their own, save extra money each month, send a child to college, or rebuild after financial setbacks, the program offers education and tips to help them reach their goals–and it allows each person to move at their own pace in an enjoyable, engaging way.

The platform is interactive and accommodating to each individual's preferred learning style. Participants can watch videos, participate in activities, read articles, or simply review quick tips. Topic categories include: Financial Psychology, Budgeting, Account Management, Credit Profile, Loans & Debt, Identity Theft, Risk Management, Economic & Government Influences, Investments & Personal Financial Planning, Home Ownership, and Higher Education.
