Project Launch

Project Launch is a 10-month, bank-wide, philanthropic initiative that focuses on awarding funds to new and existing education-based programs in the Carolinas. We ask potential entrants - creative thinkers, nonprofit leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, and more - the question 'What would you do to improve or support learning and create more educational opportunities in your community?' We encourage thinking outside of the box, creatively solving issues within ALL areas of education, no matter the age of the 'student,' and we have put no dollar limit on the request amount per entry. Entries are accepted through the First Bank Project Launch website (www.localfirstbank.com/projectlaunch) and are reviewed by a panel of First Bank associates, community stakeholders, and/or partners monthly to determine winners. If not selected in a particular month, each entry remains valid and may be reviewed for a subsequent round of monthly winners. In addition to grant money, Project Launch winners are paired with a First Bank mentor who can provide volunteer hours and counseling for the selected programs or projects. Beyond the contest, Project Launch also includes a new financial education platform for teens call the Learning Lab, and this summer, the 'Out of this World Educator Awards' program, which will see worthy educators receive ,000 in recognition of their efforts to change lives for the better.
