Making Money Make Sense

Washington Financial Bank - Washington, Pennsylvania

2020 Community Commitment Awards Submission

  • Entry Category: Financial Education
  • Asset Size: Small

Washington Financial Bank has recognized the need to fill the void of financial literacy education the children in our community were not receiving with their current education curriculum. In order to combat this need, Washington Financial Bank created a Making Money Make Sense program which provides schools and community organizations with the financial literacy programming best tailored to their participant's needs. We work with multiple financial literacy programs; specifically EverFi, Junior Achievement and ABA: Get Smart About Credit, in order to provide many hours of volunteer time to teach the importance of credit, savings and safe banking, and assist with the funding of some of these programs. In 2019, through Making Money Make Sense, the employees of Washington Financial Bank provided 3,110 hours of financial literacy to nearly 1,561 children.
