The Bank has been involved in a summer learning loss prevention program, called Fun in the Sun (FITS) for over 20 years. FITS is run by the United Way of Santa Barbara County (UWSBC) in partnership with local school districts in the Bank's footprint and works with over 300 low-income and academically at-risk primary and secondary students. The Bank first began working with the program in a mentorship and funding capacity but began working with small cohorts of students to teach financial literacy lesson approximately 8 years ago. The program has grown over the years and now serves all students, counselors-in-training (CITs) and parents that participate in FITS. Each year the Bank provides over 300 volunteer hours and over ,000 in direct and in-kind donations to FITS.
