Our pivot to virtual financial education during the pandemic:

First Commonwealth Bank’s mission is to improve the financial lives of our neighbors and their businesses. One of the most concrete ways we live this mission is to provide financial education to our communities. From 2010 through 2020, we have provided 3,871 financial education sessions for 88,304 participants. We have a dedicated Financial Education Program Coordinator to manage the program and conduct train-the-trainer sessions so that any of our bankers can teach the sessions. Our sessions are free and provided to anyone in our communities that request them, but we strive to provide at least half of our sessions to low and moderate income communities. Since we are a community bank that pride ourselves on getting to know our neighbors, business owners, students and senior citizens, we provided engaging and in-person sessions. When the pandemic hit in early 2020, we realized that the need for financial education and guidance in our communities will be more dire than ever, and that in-person sessions were no longer an option. We were able to make the switch to virtual sessions quickly, so that we could continue to provide our sessions with very little interruption. The lessons we have learned throughout 2020 has allowed us to improve our whole financial education program, and going forward, we look forward to offer both in-person and virtual sessions.
