Comerica Business Bootcamps

Comerica Business Bootcamp is an innovative financial education outreach initiative coordinated by the bank's External Affairs in partnership with a wide variety of community organizations to support small businesses and entrepreneurs in under-served and under-resourced communities. The bootcamp series offers free financial literacy workshops that are designated to provide financial education resources and technical assistance. It originated as a critical community engagement designed to help scale and sustain during the pandemic. The success of the bootcamps continues to grow and has now evolved from pandemic relief to a full-scale signature community program.

In May 2020, External Affairs launched the bootcamps across all markets. The bootcamps began as free virtual workshops and now have added in-person opportunities. Participants have access to business coaches from nonprofit partners in addition to Comerica Bank representatives, who lend their financial and technical assistance expertise. The Comerica Financial Education Brigade, comprised of colleagues at every level ranging from Senior Executives, Chief Economist and Supplier Diversity Manager to Market Presidents and Commercial and Retail bankers, assist to present the curriculum, expertise and insights.

Comerica Business Bootcamps present a wide range of sessions: access to capital, basics of financial statements, planning for a healthy business, banking services, credit access, managing cash flow, record keeping, legal matters, risk management, government contracting, marketing/branding, and numerous other topics. Bootcamps are now delivered in multiple languages including Spanish, Mandarin and Arabic languages across Comerica's markets.
