In September 2020, the Creek Fire began its devastation of California's Central Sierra Nevada mountains. It would burn for over three months, force the evacuation of 30,000 residents and become the largest fire incident in state history.

Soon after the fire started, Central Valley Community Bank (CVCB) executives and other community members formed the Central Sierra Resiliency Fund (the Fund) held under the 501(c)(3) Museum of the Sierra. The Fund's purpose is to help Central Sierra residents, businesses and communities rebuild their lives and properties, revitalize the economy and reforest the 379,895 acres devastated by the fire.

Organizers moved quickly to launch the Fund and CVCB served vital roles in the formation of the Fund and the donation portal to overseeing regional outreach and donation distribution.

CVCB has been deeply rooted in the Central Sierra since 1982 and is now the only financial institution serving the region. Supporting the Fund has been our passion, since not only is this region home to CVCB, our clients and team members, but Museum of the Sierra is also a longstanding client.

CVCB raised ,000 in donations from team and Board members to help our own employees affected by the fire. Additionally, fire relief packages were distributed to clients and first responders, holiday wishes were granted to families who lost everything and a campaign was developed which raised ,000 for the Fund.

It will take several lifetimes to restore this region to its original glory and all of us at CVCB plan to be there for our lifetime, every step of the way.
