Bank of the Rockies Senior Champions

Bank of the Rockies - Clyde Park, MT

2022 Community Committment Awards Submission

  • Protecting Older Americans
  • Asset Size: Small

Firmly believing in financial education 'from the cradle to the grave', Bank of the Rockies' Senior Champions program seeks to fulfill this mantra. Senior Champions volunteer their time and efforts in each office as the face of community outreach, public awareness, and advocacy in terms of advocating for our elderly populations. These dedicated individuals are aggressively trained in recognizing the signs of both abuse and cognitive decline and using this knowledge to mitigate exploitation and customer loss. Champions further use this knowledge to educate customers and community members through outreach and continuous engagement with the communities they serve. Also trained in reporting cases of suspected fraud, Senior Champions are encouraged to report these instances to Adult Protective Services in addition to the Compliance Department. Senior Champions are challenged each year to brainstorm and implement new and innovate ways to engage community members to both protect and celebrate the aging population in the communities they serve. Champions are encouraged to forge relationships with other elder justice stakeholders, including local areas on aging and senior centers. Fostering relationships with both communities and aging agencies allows for a broader network of protection for the aging populations as well as ensuring that older residents remain active and involved in their communities.
