Women's Leadership Resources

Women continue to be under-represented in the banking industry. ABA would like to help lead and inspire women in banking by providing resources and opportunities to network with their peers.

Laurie Stewart"It is extremely important for women to advocate on their own behalf. Often women think if they do great work and are always available they will be picked for advancement. It works sometimes, but more often a woman needs to raise her hand and her head."

Vice Chairman, ABA
President and CEO, Sound Community Bank, Seattle, WA

Women at Stonier

StonierThe first ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking graduating class in 1935 had 228 men and the first women were not admitted until 1964. Over the years, we have made significant strides in attracting more women to the school, and our hope is to increase the number of women graduates. In 2017, 44% of attendees were women.

If you are a female financial services professional considering applying to Stonier, female alumni are available to talk to you and provide insights into the Stonier experience from their individual perspectives. Request to speak to one of the woman advocates.
