Upcoming ABA Boot Camp Readies Bank Compliance Professionals for Rigorous Certification Exam

WASHINGTON — The American Bankers Association is accepting applications for its upcoming CRCM Boot Camp, a program designed to help bank compliance professionals prepare for the Institute of Certified Bankers’ Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification exam.  The program takes place May 2-5 in Philadelphia, with the option for eligible attendees to take the CRCM exam on location May 6.

“The weight of hundreds of new rules is putting pressure on banks to invest staff resources in regulatory compliance, and as a result professionals who can demonstrate expertise in this area are highly coveted,” said Jim Edrington, executive vice president of ABA's professional development group. “This boot camp helps bank compliance pros strengthen their knowledge and earn the credential that will set them apart from others in their field.”

The CRCM designation is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of bank regulatory compliance. To qualify for the CRCM certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the compliance profession, pass an exam and agree to abide by a code of ethics. The CRCM exam covers regulatory requirements as they relate to credit, deposits/securities, safety and soundness, information reporting and corporate responsibility.

The boot camp’s expert instructors will explore the content and structure of the exam, including all key laws and regulations, and will review questions structured similarly to those typically appearing on the exam.  The curriculum will present ways to think about each regulation and its application to current compliance business issues.

Attendees who meet the CRCM exam eligibility requirements have the option to sit for the CRCM exam on May 6 in Philadelphia (immediately following completion of the CRCM Boot Camp) or on a future exam date.  Those who wish to take the CRCM exam on May 6 must submit their application by April 6.

The CRCM Boot Camp is ideal for compliance professionals with foundational knowledge of core federal banking laws and regulations who plan to sit for the CRCM Exam. Those new to compliance should consider the ABA National Compliance School. For more information about this boot camp or to register, visit aba.com/CRCMbootcamp.
