ABA Conference: Develop an Edge in Real Estate Lending

Conference set for April 17-19 in San Antonio

WASHINGTON — Real estate lenders will discover ways to build their business and expand market share in light of new regulatory realities at the American Bankers Association Real Estate Lending Conference, April 17-19 in San Antonio.
This year, the conference will open with a focus on leadership. Steven Wiley, president of the Lincoln Leadership Institute at Gettysburg, will use history as a metaphor to explore the traits of an ideal leader and explain how and when to use transactional, transformational and anticipatory leadership styles.
Attendees will also hear from William Isaac, former FDIC chair, commentator and consultant, who will discuss politics and regulation and their impact on the financial system. In addition, Michael Brown, vice president and economist at Wells Fargo, will present an economic outlook for 2016 and beyond.
The conference – created by bankers for bankers – is designed to help lenders get back to the business of lending. The sessions will focus on key business decisions and compliance challenges facing lenders.
The three-day event will explore the most pressing issues with dual tracks in commercial and residential real estate lending featuring these topics and more:
  • Loan officer compensation;
  • Improving process performance;
  • Guide to CRE analysis and underwriting;
  • TRID and shaping your business strategy;
  • Improving financial performance;
  • Alternative commercial loan opportunities;
  • Regulatory challenges to mortgage operations; and
  • High volatility commercial real estate.
