ABA Conference: Bankers Explore Cutting-Edge Solutions to Today’s Risk Management Challenges

Conference set for March 26-28 in Indianapolis

​WASHINGTON — Bank risk professionals will explore a full range of bank risk concerns and explore leading trends, tactics and solutions for managing these risks at the American Bankers Association’s Risk Management Conference, March 26-28 in Indianapolis.
 
The conference will feature more than 30 sessions on a range of risk management topics, including enterprise risk governance, operational risk, market risk, credit risk, cyber vulnerability, and fraud.
 
During the conference, keynote speaker Carl Tannenbaum, chief economist at Northern Trust Corporation will offer insight on the economy’s impact on risk management. In addition, Kathy Pearson, Ph.D., president and founder of Enterprise Learning Solutions, Inc., will lead a session titled “Strategic Approaches to Risk Management Decision Making,” offering attendees an in-depth look into managing risk tolerance and establishing practical strategies to help identify, monitor and measure risks.  
 
Attendees will also hear from regulators and examiners about regulatory expectations for strong risk management programs and gain a unique perspective on the industry’s current and future regulatory environment.
 
Other sessions will feature topics including:
  • Cybersecurity and the Financial Stability Implications of a Significant Cyber Incident;
  • Managing Liquidity Risk and Performance in the Current Interest Rate Environment;
  • Enhanced Risk Management Reporting and Analysis for Managing Concentration Risks;
  • The Next Generation of Developing Key Risk Measures; and
  • Embracing the Risks and Rewards of Fintech and Innovative Payments.
On March 25, ABA will host a full-day, in-depth workshop on model risk management for bank risk managers directly or indirectly responsible for model risk management. During the pre-conference workshop, attendees will learn ways to develop a strong model risk management program and gain insight into topics such as model risk governance structure and reporting, model inventory management and supervisory expectations.
