ABA's BSA Report:
A New Framework for Partnership, Recommendations for Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Reform


ABA's Committee on Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/ Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Reform (CCBSA) published this report on October 16, 2008 to improve the BSA regime.  The report offers several key recommendations including the creation of an independent BSA Gatekeeper or –coordinating authority- to oversee the BSA regime and promote the integrity of the financial system.

CCBSA was formed in July of 2007 to take a "fresh look" at the history and current status of BSA legislation, regulation and enforcement and to make appropriate recommendations for possible changes and enhancements. This 10 member panel includes two former FinCEN directors and draws from a diverse group of AML leaders with a deep set of experiences in banking industry management, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies.
