    ABA NAMES CECELIA A. CALABY SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF CENTER FOR
    SECURITIES, TRUST AND INVESTMENTS AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ABASA


    WASHINGTON —The American Bankers Association has named Cecelia A. Calaby as senior vice president of the Center for Securities, Trust and Investments as well as executive director of the ABA Securities Association (ABASA).

    Calaby served as chief legal officer and chairman of the Operational Risk Committee at Chevy Chase Bank, F.S.B. from 2006 to 2010 where she oversaw the Legal, Compliance and Community Reinvestment Act divisions. She also practiced banking and investment management law for 15 years, most notably at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in Washington, D.C. where she served as a partner in the firm’s Financial Institutions Group.  She began her career as a correspondent banker at First City National Bank of Houston in Texas. 

    Calaby holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Rice University in Houston, Texas.  She also served as a law clerk at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation while earning a law degree from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.

    The ABA Center for Securities, Trust and Investments monitors federal legislation, regulatory agency rulings and judicial decisions to assure that laws, regulations and policies under current review favor trust and fiduciary services offered by banking organizations.  ABASA, an ABA affiliate, works to develop policy that relates to banking organizations involved in the securities business.
