ABIA ELECTS 2008-2009 BOARD MEMBERS, OFFICERS

WASHINGTON–The American Bankers Insurance Association elected 13 new members to its board of directors during the association’s annual conference this week in Washington.

"We are delighted to welcome such capable and prestigious new members to our dynamic board of directors, said ABIA Executive Director Valerie Barton. “The involvement of our highly experienced and dedicated Board of Directors provides crucial guidance towards fulfilling our mission and responding to our members.”

ABIA’s mission is to develop policy and provide advocacy for banks in insurance and support bank-insurance operations through research, education, compliance assistance and peer-group opportunities.  A separately chartered affiliate of the American Bankers Association, ABIA is the only full-service association for bank-insurance interests based in Washington.

Newly elected members of the ABIA board are:

  • Bruce Bradley, first vice president, financial institutions group, Life of the South;
  • David L. (Casey) Bowlin, president and CEO, Regions Insurance Group;
  • Jeffrey C. Chesky, president and CEO, Insuritas, Inc;
  • D. David Cissell, executive vice president, American Modern Insurance Group;
  • Joan Cleveland, senior vice president, Prudential Financial;
  • Patrick A. Cozza, CEO, HSBC Insurance North America;
  • Robin Holleman, senior VP-direct distribution Manager, Wachovia Insurance Services;
  • Robert Jones, president and CEO, United Bank;
  • Paul Petrylak, president, CIT Insurance Services;
  • Dean Purvis, Senior Vice President, AEGON Direct Marketing Services;
  • John Queirolo, CPCU, CEO, USI Connecticut;
  • Thomas R. Anderson, President, BW Insurance Agency/Bank of the West; and
  • Bruce T. Whitehurst, President and CEO, VA Bankers Association.

In addition, the ABIA board of directors, convening immediately after its conference, reelected these officers:

  • President - Richard L. Spickard, senior vice president, PNC Financial Services;
  • Vice President - Paul Petrylak, president, CIT Insurance Services;
  • Secretary - John Bruder, senior vice president, Securian; and
  • Treasurer - Neal R. Aton, chief executive officer, Wells Fargo Insurance.
