The Palm Springs Aerial Tram on Mt. Jacinto is a true adventure. The dream of a young electrical engineer, Francis F. Cocker, the Tramway will take you "up there where it is nice and cool." With the ingenious use of helicopters in erecting four of the five supporting towers over a two year period, the Tramway was labeled the "eighth wonder of the world" in the early 1960s. Once up at the top, the Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness offers 54 miles of hiking trails, including a 5.5 mile trek to the 10,804 ft. peak of San Jacinto to the just over one mile nature walk through picturesque Long Valley. For those simply wishing to enjoy the scenery, there is a movie about the building of the Tram, gift shop, two restaurants and a lounge to take in some refreshing mountain air! |

Experience the real desert and explore the San Andreas Fault's unique geologic features, often referred to as the most tortured landscape on Earth. Along the way, the jeeps will pass through some of the richest agricultural areas in the world. Learn how our rich soil traveled hundreds of miles to get here which allows the Coachella Valley to grow some rather unique crops, including grapes that never make wine, dates from around the world, the best white grapefruit in America and the sweetest corn in the west. Private naturalist guides will pick you up at the hotel and take you on a three hour tour of Metate Canyon and the San Andreas Fault. |
