Forty five community bank officers graduated from ABA's National Graduate School of Banking on Friday, July 20, 2007. The men and women of the Class of 2007 represent 39 financial institutions from 12 states from Maine to Oregon, from California to Virginia.
Michele Roberts, SVP, Bristol County Savings Bank, MA, led her class academically with a 4.04 GPA. The McGrath Faculty Service Award was bestowed on Dr. Gerry Cusack, a member of the school's Leadership and Management faculty for 23 years.
The highest award of the year, The Chairman's Award, was presented to Shannon Beattie, Financial Examiner from the FDIC's Boston area office of the New York region and president of the class. This award is presented annually to the graduate who best exemplifies academic excellence and leadership.

Objectives
The National Graduate School of Banking has five major objectives:
- Increase the effectiveness of high-potential managers and prepare them for broader responsibilities in banking.
- Expand the focus of problem-solving skills from a department outlook to an institution-wide and industry-wide perspective.
- Develop the analytical skills and management effectiveness required to direct the operations of a financial institution.
- Improve the ability to respond creatively to changes in the financial services industry.
- Provide students of diverse organizational backgrounds with an overview of the industry's major functional areas aimed at broadening their career opportunities.

Tuition & Fees
Tuition at the National Graduate School of Banking for 2008 is $3,145 per session for ABA members. Non-member tuition is $4,145. (Applicants pay a non-refundable $300 application fee that will be credited to the tuition bill.)
The fee for room and board includes a private bedroom in a campus apartment, most meals, coffee breaks, receptions, gratuities and taxes. The room and board fee for 2008 is $200 per night. Due to the high level of class interaction, all students are required to reside on campus during each session. Handicapped facilities are available if needed.
About the University of Pennsylvania
The new home of the National Graduate School of Banking is the Philadelphia campus of the University of Pennsylvania. All students are housed in single bedrooms in two- or three-bedroom apartments on the Ivy League campus. The University of Pennsylvania is convenient to major highways (Interstate 95, Pennsylvania Turnpike), rail service (Amtrak and SEPTA), as well as the Philadelphia International Airport.
