In 2014, Get Smart About Credit will be celebrated on October 16. Bankers will connect with young people to provide credit education lessons.

- Before your lesson, inform the teacher or contact of the Get Smart About Credit Day Twitter Chat.
- Ask the teacher if they would be willing to give their students extra credit for participating in the Twitter Chat using the hashtag #GetSmartChat. The students could print out their tweet or use their smart phone to show their teacher that they tweeted during the 3-5 p.m. EST time period.
- If the teacher can’t offer extra credit, suggest reserving time at the end of your lesson to send a tweet from the class to be answered by participating subject matter experts.
- Leave students with a call to action. Use this handout as part of your lesson to encourage participation in the Twitter Chat. This flyer also includes information on the upcoming Lights, Camera, Save! Video contest for teens; a perfect way to win up to $5,000 to put toward their savings.
