Two Latino Magazines Name Xerox Among Best In Diversity
STAMFORD, Conn., 28 Aug. 2007 -- Two Hispanic magazines - LATINA Style and Hispanic Business, have named Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) among the best companies for diversity. LATINA Style highlights Xerox in its list of 50 Best Companies for Latinas to Work in the United States, and Hispanic Business magazine lists Xerox in its Diversity Elite 2007 ranking.
"At Xerox we continue to benefit from our culture of diversity and inclusion," said Phil Harlow, chief diversity officer at Xerox. "It's not just how we run our business, it's the only way to achieve success in today's marketplace -- recruiting, retaining and promoting the best and brightest talent from a broad base of candidates who share our commitment to excellence and a will to win."
The LATINA Style list, now in its 10th year, recognizes the 50 best companies for Latinas to work. With the assistance of the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and national Hispanic organizations, a comprehensive survey was created and sent to the Fortune 1,000 companies. Companies were evaluated based on number of Latina executives, mentoring programs, Latina board members, educational opportunities, alternative work policies, dependent/child care support, employee benefits, women's issues, job retraining, and Hispanic relations. Xerox has been named to the LATINA Style list eight times since 1998. "Since the first time that Xerox has made the LATINA Style 50 companies, Latinas have continued to excel in the nurturing environment provided by the company," said Robert Bard, president and chief executive officer of LATINA Style. "At least five of the highest positions held by Hispanics at Xerox are held by Latinas. This is particularly important to our community given the industry that Xerox represents." A ceremony honoring Xerox and all the LATINA Style 50 will be held in February 2008 in Washington, D.C.
Hispanic Business magazine named Xerox to its Diversity Elite 2007 list. Xerox has been on this list each year since its 2005 inception. To compile the list, Hispanic Business contacted the Fortune 1,000 companies, American subsidiaries of global 500 companies and large U.S. public and private companies. Company-provided information was evaluated by HispanTelligenceŽ, the research arm of Hispanic Business. Criteria for inclusion included minority representation on the board of directors and at the executive level; efforts to hire from minority groups; efforts to support, retain and promote Hispanic and other minority groups; marketing and advertising to Hispanic consumers, and supplier diversity programs.
