Information Exchange via Best Practices Panels / Peer Group Forums

The ABIA Best Practices Panels are an informational and networking resource for the membership. The Panel members provide broad expertise and showcase the knowledge available in the ABIA membership. Each Panel provides a resource connection within the industry to assist any member in identifying and resolving problems unique to that segment of the bank-insurance business. All ABIA members are encouraged to join a Panel or raise issues they believe should be discussed. The Panels regularly meet by teleconference. There is no charge for Panel participation, which is limited to ABIA members. The nine Best Practices Panels are:

Publications

  • Study of Leading Banks in Insurance
    The Study is a comprehensive annual look at the broad trends of bank insurance participation, product strategies, distribution platforms and operating practices. The Study draws from a large respondent pool of banks of all asset sizes. The Study also analyzes recent agency acquisitions and results achieved by bank-insurance leaders. The Study is offered to ABIA members at a significant discount.

Conferences

  • Annual Conference
    The ABIA Annual Conference is the pre-eminent conference of the bank-insurance industry. Held in the fall, the Conference features general sessions with keynote speakers and a Regulatory and Compliance Panel with key regulators. In addition, the Conference highlights Best Practices Panel presentations as well as numerous break-out sessions with case studies by bankers and providers of insurance products and services. Significant discounts along with sponsorship and exhibit opportunities are offered to members.
  • Regional Meetings and Telebriefings
    To address current "hot" issues, especially those of a regulatory or compliance nature, the ABIA hosts regional one-day workshops and telebriefings. The ABIA has hosted one-day workshops on Debt Cancellation (Washington, DC) and Agency Integration (Chicago, IL). Additionally, the ABIA has held telebriefings on FCC Telemarketing Sales Rule and Debt Cancellation and Debt Suspension. Significant discounts are available for ABIA members.

Legislative and Regulatory Representation / Compliance Services

The ABIA represents the interests of its members and the bank-insurance industry generally in all public policy forums. ABIA is very active on issues that uniquely affect banks in insurance at the federal and state levels in legislative, regulatory and judicial forums.
