Why Do I Need a New Teach Children to Save Kit?

If you purchased a Teach Children to Save Kit prior to 2005, you might wonder, "Why do I need a new one?"  Below you'll find the answer to that and other common questions about the Teach Children to Save resource kits.

Why do I need a new kit?
How is this kit different from one I purchased with a copyright date of 2003 or earlier?
New Teach Children to Save resource kits were developed in celebrate the 10th annual National Teach Children to Save Day in 2006. The new resources are in two separate kits, one for K-6 and one for 7-12. Each new kit is double the size of the previous kit. The kits contain all new lesson plans and activities. We also added take-home resources for children and teens, that allow bankers to encourage families to continue the savings lessons at home.

What is included in each kit?

We added so much information to the Teach Children to Save resource kits that this year there are two brand-new, separate kits – one for grades K-6 and one 7-12.  Each new kit includes:

  • All-new, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities;
  • New take-home materials for families, to reinforce savings at home;
  • Planning checklists, ideas for getting started, a letter of approach to educators, and other guidelines are included in the Banker Resources; and
  • A sample press release, sample media advisory, and 2 full-color posters.

Why did we raise the price of the new Teach Children to Save kits?

The TCTS kits are an incredible value. Similar programs sold by private agencies or credit unions are often double the price, if not more. For banks large and small, we've done the work for you by developing brand-new lesson plans and activities. The kits also have new family resource materials and expert advice and tips. The lesson plans are easy to follow, even for those bankers who are new to the Teach Children to Save program.

Can I use one kit for everyone at my bank?

Although we encourage you to make copies of the activity sheets, the lesson plans are not reproducible. We recommend that you purchase one set of kits for every location or branch of your bank that will be participating. Quantity discounts and licensing agreements are also available. Please contact the ABA Education Foundation for more information.

How do I sign up to participate in Teach Children to Save Day 2007?
