2011 EBRI/MGA Consumer Engagement in Health Care Survey
Released December 2011. This survey once again found that consumers enrolled in consumer-directed helath plans (CDHPs) are more engaged in cost-saving efforts than those in traditional health plans. -
Mercer's National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Health Plans
Released November 2011. This survey included the findings that within emploer-sponsored health plans, 13% of all covered employees are enrolled in a CDHP and the cost of coverage in a CDHP with a health savings account is nearly 20% lower, on average, than the cost of PPO coverage – $7,787 per employee compared to $9,385. -
2011 Employer and Account Holder Surveys by ACS, A Xerox Company
Released November 2011, the surveys found a majority of small employers (77%) believe that High Deductible Health Plans with an HSA are key in controlling health care costs and that 56% of HSA account holders have found that their HSA-qualified plan provides an affordable health care option. -
Employee Benefits Accountability and Consumerism 2011 survey by WorldatWork
Released October 2011, among the findings of this survey was that more companies (47% in 2011 vs. 27% in 2006) are offering consumer-driven health plan options (CDHP) as a way to manage costs and a greater number are offering health savings account-based plans as their preferred choice.

Kaiser Family Foundation/Health Research & Educational Trust 2011 Employer Health Benefits Survey
Released September 2011, the survey found that HDHPs paired with an HSA continue to gain popularity among employers of all sizes. - Devenir Survey, released August 2011. HSA Council member Devenir found HSAs rise to over $11.7 Billion in Total Deposits. The survey of the top 50 HSA custodians found that total deposits, account balances and investment dollars all increased in 2011.
- Fidelity® Report, released July 2011. HSA Council Board member finds HSA participants save twice as much in their 401(k)s than average participants. This pattern holds true accross all compensation levels.
- AHIP 2011 Annual Census on HSA/HDHPs, released June 2011. As of January 2011, more than 11.4 million Americans were covered by HSA-eligible high deductible health plans (HDHPs), an increase of more than 14 percent from the prior year.
- PricewaterhouseCooper Survey, released May 2011 finds High Deductible Health Plans continue to grow. The 2011 Health & Well-Being Touchstone Survey found that enrollment in HDHPs with an HSA increased 9% in 2011 over last year.

- Devenir 2010 Survey, released in February 2011 found that HSAs surpass now $10 billion in total deposits.
- Aetna HealthFund CDHPs study, released February 2011 finds that employers save millions over traditional plans and that CDHP consumers access more preventative care than those with a traditional plan.
- CDMR Study, released February 2011 finds a 32.7% increase in total HSA assets over one year.
- UMB Healthcare Services reports a 40% increase in the number of HSAs after the 2010 open enrollment period. Released February 2011.

- 2010 Survey of Consumer-Driven Health Plans (CDHP): by the American Association of Preferred Provider Organizations (AAPPO) found CDHP were the only type of health insurance plan that grow in 2009.
American Academy of Actuaries' 2009 Study on CDHPs: The American Academy of Actuaries released this study, which summarizes the results of four major studies regarding consumer-driven health plans (CDHPs), and shows that CDHPs are effective at controlling costs and increasing preventative care. -
OptumHealth 2009 HSA Owner Survey: OptumHealth sponsored this national survey of 500 randomly selected HSA owners to measure their satisfaction, opinions, motivations, and saving-and-spending behavior. (5-09)

AHIP 2009 HSA Income Study: America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) released a study that found 83% of accountholders live in neighborhoods that had median incomes less than $75,000 in 1999 dollars. (5-09)

AHIP HSA/HDHP Study: America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) released a census of enrollees in HDHPs linked to HSA that showed an increase of 43% since last year. Other findings include that 27% of enrollees were previously uninsured and that over 90% of companies offer HDHPs with a carve out for preventive care. (4-07)
